Benjamin Disraeli said, “There is no education like adversity.” Wow, is that ever so true. Every adversity, every challenge I have encountered in my life has given me a great education. I learned what to do and what not to do. What worked, and what did not work. Who was with me and who was against me.
Overcoming adversity involves knowing exactly what it is that you are trying to accomplish, and then staying with it until the task is done. I like what Ralph Blum said about adversity, “Nothing is predestined: the obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.”
I love the origin of a now famous office product. After numerous failures at getting a type of glue to work the way the company wanted, one of the people on the project took the failed glue and had an idea. That mistake and failure ended up becoming one of the most successful office supplies ever produced; the Post-It Note®.
So why not take your failures and set-backs and turn them into glorious success? Learning to overcome adversity will guarantee that you will be living your very best life.
