Many years ago, I heard it said, and all of you have heard it, if not, here we go… ‘fake it till you make it’. In other words, act as if you are already the person you want to be and having the success you wish to have. Let me give you an example. When I was 21 years old, I dreamed of having a Porsche 928 and I so I borrowed a suit, went to the dealership, and convinced the sales person that I was thinking about a Porsche or Ferrari, not sure which one I want so I need to test drive them to see.
At the time, I was so broke I could not afford to pay attention. I was so broke, I could not afford to make change. Ok, I was so broke, I could not afford to go window shopping. Ok fine, you don’t believe me, I was so broke I was licking flavored stamps for dinner. I would go to a Ritz Carlton and have a martini at the bar when the cost of the martini was a week’s worth of macaroni and cheese.
I learned early to act, talk, think, and look like the person I wanted to be. Go out and buy a new suit, a good one, one that is going to make you very proud and glowing with attitude. Start talking like winners do, act like them and you will soon be like them.
When I was a kid growing up, I watched a show called Dynasty. It had Blake Carrington, the Billionaire who had it all, an ex-wife who was a bitch, a current wife Crystal who is the woman I’m still looking for and a life that inspired me.
Decide that you are going to become the person you have always imagined and that each day you will move closer and closer to becoming that person. Now I’m not quite the Billionaire that Blake Carrington was, or have a diva for an ex-wife, but over the years I have transformed my life from a low self-esteem, no confidence kid to a happy, healthy, and with all humility a successful kid from humble beginnings. So walk, talk, look and act like the person you want to be and you will one day be that person and for sure living your very best life.
